Mac Bouchere FRPS
Our meeting on Friday 5th February featured Mac Bouchere FRPS from South Devon with his talk “Getting the ‘F’ in FRPS”
Living in Jersey at the time, Mac took us through his adventures in achieving the Fellowship of the RPS. Using the medium of monochrome prints, his first attempt was unsuccessful, and he was able to show us which pictures were replaced for a second application. This panel too, was unsuccessful so he set about changing the direction of the content and the third application strongly featured the buildings and structures remaining from the German occupation in WW2. His determination and tenacity was evident, and this final Panel – which we were shown, was successful. Mac also displayed a selection of his current work in both monochrome and colour. Mac also organises Photo Holidays/trips to Jersey, see http://www.rocqueimages.com

Licentiate Distinction Success
We congratulate our Publicity Secretary Peter Phillips on his success today in being awarded the Licentiate Distinction of the Royal Photographic Society!
Deborah Brady
On Friday 15th January we were delighted to listen to Deborah Brady telling us all about her life as a Photo-Journalist - the lecture was entitled "A Female in Fleet Street" and was her final lecture in a series of talks to five Western Counties Clubs during the week.
Deborah projected numerous pictures from her press cuttings book and it was interesting to note that she commenced her successful career with a News Agency in Bristol before going on to London and working on many national newspapers.
One of our members - Elizabeth Restall - was "volunteered" to be loaded down with the cameras and other gear that a Fleet Street Photographer would carry on location - including the ubiquitous step ladder!
A fascinating and inspiring evening!
